Our summer 2009 camping trip took us to many national parks in the southwest united states. The two week trip took us through Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. Along the way we visited Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, The South Rim of the Grand Canyon, The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce National Park. Our summer 2008 camping trip again takes us to the Black Hills. However, this year we have modified the route and first headed to western Nebraska and to our state's largest State Park; Fort Robinson. We spent two days there, then drove to Elkhorn Ridge Campground in Spearfish, South Dakota. We are using this park as a base camp for three days while we visit Devils Tower in Eastern Wyoming, and Deadwood, South Dakota just 30 minutes away. We complete our summer trip this year in Custer State Park before returning home through South Dakota back.Photo Album

For our 2008 camping year we purchased a new travel trailer. The new trailer is 30 feet long and has quad bunks so the kids don’t have to share beds and can bring friends with them. To break in the new trailer and make sure were ready for our summer trip we planned our first short trip over the Memorial Day Holiday to a reservoir in north east Kansas called Tuttle Creek. Other than some strong thunderstorms the trip was flawless and the kids had a great time.

Our 2007 Summer camping trip took us to the north shore of Lake Superior, north of Duluth, Minnesota. We camped at Gooseberry Falls State Park and Temperance River State Park. The scenery was beautiful, but the weather was typical for late spring. It was rainy, foggy, and cold, but we still had a good time hiking and exploring the north shore. Julia and I managed to get a horseback ride in at Lustsen Mountain. The second half of our trip took us to Hayward, Wisconsin to visit family. We stayed at a local RV Park and spent the weekend on Grindstone Lake where I spent many of my childhood summers. We got to see our niece who is almost a year old already. Eric graduated from Millard West High School on Sunday, May 27th, 2007. Eric will be attending Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in the Fall and has pledged the Beta Omicron Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He will be living in the chapter house starting in the fall semester.
